Amaranth Acres is a family-owned vegetable farm and fruit orchard located in Dickerson in the agricultural reserve of Montgomery County, MD.

We grow both ethnic and native vegetables using sustainable and organic farming practices. Preserving the land for future generations is just as important to us as growing vegetables and fruits.

The vegetables and fruits are grown sustainably without pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or other chemicals. You are invited to come along on this journey as we explore what fruits and vegetables that grow best on this piece of land.

Vision
Vegetables

Managing and operating a farm is as rewarding as it is hard. Our aim is to grow vegetables, fruits, and livestock naturally and organically. Two of our primary goals are to steward the land and to grow sustainably.

We follow the principles of organic farming and avoid using pesticides and chemicals that would take away from the natural taste of the vegetables and fruits.

We come from a long line of farmers - but on another continent! Although we are one generation removed from farming, we remember visiting our grandparents' farms and feeling the most alive when we were there. This is our attempt to return to our roots and work our land as we do what we love most.

Chickens

It's almost impossible to find fresh, organic ethnic South Asian vegetables including Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, and some Chinese vegetables in this area. We want to grow these vegetables and make it accesssible for anyone seeking them, and maybe others who are looking to try something new! It is a lot of hard work and the prices at which the vegetables are sold do not truly reflect the amount of time and effort that goes into growing them. The satisfaction of making high quality produce available to a broader population is what keeps us going every year.
