The hens that produce these eggs roam in the pasture all day. They scratch around in the dirt and enjoy the sun and are a generally happy bunch. The quality of the eggs, the color, and the texture are all better because of it.

The chickens go in the coop during the night and to lay eggs. The rest of the time they are out foraging for critters, grass seeds, and other interesting things they find in the pasture. According to studies, pasture-raised eggs have a higher concentration of Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and beta-carotene than your average supermarket eggs.

During the winter months when there is not much grass or other seeds for them to feed on, so they get supplemental feed of grains or pellets.
